We were just having a chat in the office about brows (as you do when you’re BeautyMART). Our current browinspo is fuelled by Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Karlie Kloss and Hayley Baldwin, who, along with boyfriend Justin Bieber surely qualifies them as the brow couple of the moment.
Our intern, Jessica, wanted to know what soap brows were (we’d just received a new soap brow product, which made us wonder what is wrong with a bar of soap and a spoolie? See this video for how to).
This then made me think of Sophie Berensiner, beauty director of ELLE, who posted Tinsel Brows on her Instagram yesterday, which looked great and we predict will be a party season hit (Sophie hinted at something secret coming – please let it be TinselBrow!) Which then got us talking about brows and how when I was younger, all the girls plucked them to thin arches – think Rihanna on the cover of September Vogue – then when the fashion changed to bushier brows, mid 70s, everyone used petroleum jelly to make them grow thicker.
We then learned that our buyer, Mahreen, does a special brow cleanse (we’re thinking Browash would be a great name for a brow cleansing brand) and she does a treatment using Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream which really makes them glossy the next day.
It’s interesting that the growth (‘scuse the pun) in the brow category seems to have moved on from colouring, shaping and shading to be more about grooming and care. What do you think?
